William D. Matey Sr.

February 2, 1934 - December 30, 2021

William D. Matey, Sr. of Turnersville, and formerly Gloucester City passed away surrounded by his loving family, Thursday, December 30, 2021, at the age of 87.  Beloved son of the late John and Florence Matey.

Loving father of William D. Matey, Jr. (Kathy), Michele A. McEvoy (Tom), and Melanie A. McDonald. Life long partner of Josie Stevens.  Cherished grandfather of William D. Matey III (Katie), Melissa S. Zelinak (Jason), Jason R. Matey, Samantha J. McDonald, John L. Reader, IV, Jessica L. Reader, Zachary J. McDonald. Cherished great grandfather of Scarlett T. Zelinack, Caden L. Rogers, Jacob K. Matey, Nathan P. Matey, Landon T. Zelinack, Logan A. Rogers, Addison M. Zelinack, Drew A. Payne, Emma G. Reader, Grayson A. Zelinack, and Norah J. Meehan. Predeceased by his siblings, John Matey (Jacqueline), and Robert Matey.

William was a graduate of South Philadelphia High School class of 1952. He served in the United States Army. William was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching sports, especially basketball.
