Walter E.
Debolt
Nov 1, 1938 — Apr 8, 2021
Woodbury
Walter E. DeBolt ("Bud, "Buddy" "Walt" "Mr. D") of West Deptford born November 1, 1938 passed away peacefully on April 8, 2021 after a brief but very aggressive battle against lung cancer. Walter, preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elayne DeBolt, leaves behind his four children, Barbara (husband Mike, children Nichole, Carisa, Michael, Jason, Kevin, Jesse, Patrick, Ryan and Sean; Walt, Meridyth (husband Ed, children Ryan and Jordyn), Deanna (husband Travis, children Emma and Maggie); Craig (wife Michelle, sons Kyle and Zachary) Paige (daughters, Brooke, Taylor and Lauren) Michelle (husband Mark, daughters Payton and Camryn).
Walter was a hardworking man, drove a truck most of his working career, and a member of the Teamsters Union Local 107. He could tell anyone how to get to almost any destination; he was a human map for many.
His most favorite hobby was fishing, and spending time on the boat with his family and friends and a few cold beers. For years he kept his boat docked in Brigantine at Trump Marina on I Dock, where he was quickly nicknamed "The Mayor" due to his outgoing, generous and fun helpful personality. He knew everyone and everyone knew him. It was one big happy family on the dock with Walter there. He had an enormous heart, always looking out for the underdog, always caring to help others in need. If for some reason he couldn't help, he would go the extra mile to find you the help you needed.
Walter was an outstanding Father, Grandfather, husband and friend. All those that knew Walter would agree that he was a genuine man, a man that wore his heart on his sleeve. He will be missed by many, and will be remembered a great man that would give you the shirt off his back.
Dad, thank you for raising us into the strong women we are, for teaching us about life, about struggles and how to overcome them. Thank you for always displaying such courage and strength going through some of the most difficult times in life. You and Mom always gave us everything you had and more, and we will be eternally grateful for that. The kids were always so proud to see you in the stands cheering them on in the sports they love, rain or shine, they could count on you. The love and support you provided them will live in their hearts forever.
We know how you missed your beautiful wife from the day she left us, and now you have been reunited once again. Continue to hold onto to each other forever and please continue to be the most perfect guardian angels for us all. Keep us safe as we go through the rest of our lives, share your wisdom whenever you want, and please know how very proud we are to be your children.
One of your infamous phrases, "You're gonna miss me when I'm gone" and we're here to say that you couldn't be more accurate with that phrase.
You will always be in our hearts Dad, we love you.
