Theodore M. Zeller 12/04/1936 – 04/10/2021
In loving memory of Theodore Zeller, who passed away on April 10, 2021 at the age of 84, surrounded by his whole family at home. He was the husband of Sandra Zeller; they were married for 60 wonderful years. He is survived by Sandra W. Zeller, children Susan Zeller, Holly Zeller, Jennifer Welch (Stephen), along with two grandchildren Brooke Welch and Jeremy Welch who he loved dearly. He is also survived by his brother Kenneth Zeller, Sister and Brother in law Susan and Dr. Robert Tygh, along with many nieces and nephews. Ted was preceded in death by his sisters Zelma Platz/Schroker, and Florence Clark.
"Ted" or "Teddy" as he was fondly remembered by family and dear friends was born in Cortland, New York on the family farm to parents William Zeller and Helen Zeller, the youngest of four siblings. The family soon moved back to NJ and started a productive dairy farm with Jersey Holsteins and Hereford milking cows, horses, pigs and chickens in Franklin Park.
As a young man Ted decided to go to Tusculum College in Greenville Tennessee where he earned his BS. Degree in Business, more importantly during his junior year he met his beautiful wife Sandy on campus at the "Sub" grill. They married in June 1960 and in October of the same year Ted was drafted into the army and spent 2 years in Germany, after his honorably discharge Ted and Sandy started their family.
Ted used his experience and love of farming to create a successful career in the Agricultural Farming field, first working for the Department of Agriculture office of Milk Industry, then, continuing his career with NJ ASCS dept. (Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Services). He retired in 1996 after 31 years of service. Through the years Ted enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR racing, Harley Davidson's, and road tripping. In the summers he was known for his delicious Jersey heirloom tomatoes. His most cherished times were spent with family and friends around a good cup of coffee and a doughnut , telling stories which were sure to bring smiles and laughter to all who knew him. He was a hard worker and excellent provider for his family.
