Richard Louis Federico
August 13, 1942 - January 9, 2026
On January 9, 2026, Richard Louis Federico peacefully passed away at home after a valiant effort to spend more time with his family. He was 83 years old.
Richard was born on August 13, 1942, the firstborn son of Mary and Salvatore Federico. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1960 and went on to serve seven years in the United States Military National Guard, reflecting a strong sense of duty and service. After his military service, he found his love of surveying and construction. He spent over 40 years as a licensed land surveyor and helped construct some of the largest buildings in Philadelphia and New Jersey.
Richard later fell in love and married his beloved wife, Genevieve Federico, who preceded him in death. Together they built a life centered on love, commitment, and family.
From a very young age, Richard developed a love for fishing and spent countless hours honing his craft. Any available time he had he spent fishing the creeks and lakes across south jersey, which led to his passion of chasing some of the largest creatures the Atlantic Ocean produced; A passion he later instilled in all of his children.
While there are many ways to measure success, Richard chose being a father as his greatest achievement. He took immense pride in his children; Debbie Harrington, Tommy Federico, Richard Federico, Jr. (Dayle), and David Federico (Colleen).
Richard was also a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren (Amanda, Devon, Patrick, Brianna, Skyelar, Kamryn, Rhaya, and Emelya). and a cherished great-grandfather to seven great-grandchildren, who will help carry forward the legacy by which he will always be remembered.
Richard will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his quiet strength, and the deep love he had for those closest to him. His legacy of loyalty, perseverance, and unconditional love will live on through generations.
A Celebration of Life honoring Richard will be held on Friday, January 16, from 5pm-8pm. at Riverwinds Community Center, 1000 Riverwinds Dr., West Deptford N.J.
