Rebecca Montemayor Araujo
November 20, 1944 - April 19, 2020
REBECCA MONTEMAYOR ARAUJO, 75, of Atlantic City, New Jersey, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family at home on the day of the Feast of the Divine Mercy, Sunday, April 19, 2020. She was born on November 20, 1944 in Malasiqui, Pangasinan, Philippines, the daughter of the late Fidel Montemayor Sr. and Juanita Palaganas.
Rebecca attended college at the University of the East, Manila, Philippines with a degree in BS Commerce and Accounting. She worked as an accountant at Singer Sewing Company, subsequently owned and managed a grocery store. She loved reading, cooking, listening to music, watching YouTube health tips and how to videos. She loves her iPad due to Facebook Messenger and free gaming casino slot apps.
Rebecca has always sacrificed her needs for the good of her family and the people around her. She will be remembered as a selfless, altruistic person, who always had a smile even when times are tough. She had a great strength. She never complained and always looked to a better future. Rebecca was ever calm and serene in her Catholic faith.
Her character and temperament can best be shown from the time she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Biliary Cancer with Metastasis in March 27, 2020. She had the right to cry, be mad and even fall into depression but she faced her diagnosis with bravery. She did not want chemotherapy instead she chose to be home with her loving family under hospice care. She loved and lived every moment she has given, neither hard times nor cancer would rob her of who she was. She was always graceful until God called her home.
She is survived by her husband Wilfredo, her children Elizabeth, Wilfredo Jr., Mary Jane, Rhea and Grace, sons-in-law Anthony and Alfredo, her grandchildren Raymond, Jacob, Cassidy and James, Her sisters Candida, Teresita, Perla and her brothers Fidel Jr., Carlos and Bernardo.
Due to the Pandemic, a Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends at a later date.
"I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7
