Kalman (Kal) Papp
September 10, 1945 - March 12, 2026
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kalman (Kal) Papp of Brigantine, NJ. Born on September 10, 1945, in Vöcklabruck, Austria, he was the son of the late Alexander and Irene Papp.
In 1950, Kal, along with his mother, father, and brother, immigrated to the United States. They originally settled in Rochester, NY, before later moving to Port Reading. Kal graduated from Woodbridge High School and went on to attend Rutgers College. He also honorably served his country, joining the Army in 1964.
A driven professional, Kal was the owner of several staffing agencies in NYC throughout his career. After years of hard work, he moved to Staten Island and eventually retired to his beloved Brigantine. Kal found great joy in the simple pleasures of life: traveling, golfing, reading, and spending time on the sand at Brigantine Beach.
Kal is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Cathy Papp (nee Benanti), who was truly the love of his life. He is also survived by his son, Erik (Hemma); his sister, Irene Cicerale (Steve); and his grandsons, Alex and Tommy. He leaves behind his goddaughter, Amanda Benanti; sisters-in-law Anne Bozza and MaryAnn Benanti; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Irene Papp, and his brother, Alex. He was also predeceased by his brothers-in-law, John Benanti and Walter Bozza.
No formal services are planned, but those who knew Kal are encouraged to share a fond memory or kind word with the family.
