Obituary

James A. Crist

October 14,1943 - August 9, 2021

James Allen Crist, 77, of Haddonfield, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, August 9, 2021. He was born on Thursday, October 14, 1943 in Philadelphia, son of the late Allen F. and Virginia R. Crist.

He was a graduate of Collingswood High School, received a Bachelors of Arts (Psychology) from Rutgers University, and a Masters of Arts (Psychology) from Glassboro State College. He practiced for many years as a therapist, as well as working for both the University of California and California State college systems.

James loved movies, rock music, reading, and watching sports; and was well traveled – particularly enjoying the wonders of the natural world. He lived and worked in Northern California for several decades, before retiring back to his native South Jersey, reconnecting with his roots. James treasured spending time with family and friends; and until the current health crisis, would play poker with many buddies he had known since grade school – members of The Woodlynne Animals.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Kathy Crist (Schmidt); brother, John R. Crist and sister-in-law, Regina Crist of St. Augustine, Florida; two nieces, Gina M. Diesl of St. Augustine, Florida and Renee M. Tinsley of Clarksville, Tennessee; son, Scott M. Crist of West Deptford; as well as life-long friends Jay Harris of Williamstown, Joseph and Sylvia (Harris) Leusner of Haddon Township, Steve McHugh of Audubon, Bobby Dempsey of Bel Air, MD. and William and Charlene Leis of Parkesburg, PA.

In lieu of traditional services, friends and family will gather for a jubilant celebration of Jim's life in early October.
