Obituary

Elizabeth J. Crankshaw, known to most simply as "Nana", passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of Saturday, January 4th surrounded by her loving family, ending her heroic battle with cancer.

She was born in Philadelphia on March 14th, 1933, and lived there throughout her childhood. In 1964, she made the trek across the Delaware River to raise her family in Marlton, NJ. She worked as a medical records professional for over 30 years, enjoying a career that took her to Garden State Hospital, West Jersey Hospital, and eventually, Virtua Health Systems, where she retired at 79 years young.

Elizabeth was fiercely devoted to her family. It didn't matter if you were family by blood or family by choice, her family always came first. Always. She was also passionate about her Irish heritage. Her home was full of trinkets proudly colored green, white, and orange.

Elizabeth was an avid traveler. She enjoyed trips all over the world with her work family, including her beloved Ireland. One of the highlights of her travels came in 2005 when she accompanied her two grandsons and their friends to World Youth Day in Cologne, Germany. For two weeks they traversed Europe visiting many cities, from Fatima, Portugal to Lourdes, France.

She is survived by her son John Crankshaw and daughter-in-law Marion Crankshaw, daughter Elizabeth Mehaffey and son-in-law Dennis Mehaffey, Sr., youngest son James Crankshaw, dear niece Diane Dougherty and husband Jim Dougherty; grandchildren John Crankshaw, Amy Crankshaw, Jennifer Bender and husband Jamie Bender, Dennis Mehaffey, Jr. and wife Michelle Mehaffey, Ryan Mehaffey and wife Mallory Mehaffey; and of course her great-grandchildren Xander, Joey, Jimmy, Carter, Matt, Brooke, and Jax.

Per Elizabeth's requests, there will be no public memorial services. Her family and friends are simply asked to honor her by keeping her incredible love of life and family alive in their own lives.
