Salgado
Oct 12, 1942 — Sep 11, 2026
West Deptford
Dionisio Salgado, Sr.
"Charlie"
October 12,1943-September 11, 2026
Dionisio Salgado, 83, of West Deptford, NJ passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026, with his family by his side. He was born October 12, 1943, in Dorado, Puerto Rico, and was one of six children: (Carlos, Eduardo, Emma, Milagros and Jesus)He then moved to New Jersey when he was 25 years old and was fondly known to most as "Charlie".
He married Sonja Salgado in 1968 (nee Galloway) and they had 3 children: Dionisio Salgado, Jr., Tanya Schaen (Kyle), and Dara Salgado-Simon (Frank). He also has 4 grandchildren that he loved dearly: Francesco, Marcello, Lorenzo, & Sofia.
Charlie was a graduate of Penco Techschool and became one of the best auto body restoration technicians in the area. You could often find him tinkering with cars at the garage he rented, behind what was once Earl Scheib's in North Woodbury, NJ. Charlie held various jobs throughout his life including working for Pantry Pride& Food Fair grocery stores, and Gloucester County Utility Authority (GCUA). He finally settled at International Paper Retail Display and Packaging Co. in West Deptford, NJ where he retired after a 20+ year tenure.
Charlie was also an avid Phillies and Eagles fan. If he wasn't watching the games on the TV, you'd find him sitting outside listening to the game on the radio with a cold Miller Lite in hand. He cherished every opportunity possible to visit with family members both in Puerto Rico, and here in NJ. He loved spending time at Henry Schauber's farm and hanging out with his friends from PuertoRico. He was often spotted at Acme playing his lottery or at the local Goodwill &local auctions looking for a deal. Charlie was well known for being a kind and genuine person, always ready to lend a hand or have a conversation. Everyone that knew him loved him.
He will be forever missed, forever in our hearts.
