Barbara Ann Cocozza
June 21, 1941 - January 31, 2021
Barbara Cocozza (nee String), 79, of Atlantic City, formerly of Egg Harbor Township was born June 21, 1941 in Philadelphia. She gained her angel wings on January 31, 2021 at the home of her son Alfred Smith, with her most beloved by her side.
Barbara had worked through the years but ultimately was retired from the Taj Mahal. She enjoyed spending time with family, bike riding, going to the senior center, and attending church. She was a devoted member of New Life Church for 32 years, where she previously served as a deaconess under the pastoral leadership of Dr.'s Reverend's Charles and Donna Arnold and current Pastor Tom Distefano (Laura). She truly loved her church family and was grateful for all the love and support through the years.
Barbara is predeceased by her husband, Albert Cocozza, her parents, Barbara and Rufus String, brothers Irvin and Paul String and brothers George and Charlie Ross. She is survived by her children/stepchildren, Alfred Smith, Vicki LeMay, Geri Sampson-Gaskill, Kathy Adamski (Dan), Earl Cocozza (Melanie), and Janice Duke (Bill). She is also survived by her sister in laws, brother in laws, nieces, nephew, cousins, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of friends, whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by her two longest and cherished friends, Kathleen Maher and Peggy Marzano.
Her greatest blessings in life were serving God and her family members. Barbara, affectionately referred to as Nan, was extremely close and proud of her two beautiful granddaughters, Angela Smith and Barbie Arnold (Chuck). The family thanks everyone for their support and prayers. A memorial service will be held at New Life Church at a future date. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23
