Ann Eleanore Leinfelder
April 5, 1943 - January 28, 2023
Ann E. Leinfelder of Westville Grove NJ passed away on January 28, 2023, from Inspira Medical Center in Mullica Hill at the age of 79 after a short illness. Before her passing, she confided that the hospital experience had been an adventure.
Ann was born in Hamelin, Germany in 1943.
Ann is survived by her daughter, Renee Leinfelder, Connecticut, and her dear friends Linda and Chip McHugh. She also leaves special high school friends Joyce Muse and Eva Lapteff to cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Olga Sullivan (nee Potsches) and Karl Heinz Heck, her brothers, Reinhard Potsches, and Alex Aston, her son, Lee Leinfelder and dear friend Bernice Miedzius.
Ann lived an adventurous life. She could remember the food and healthcare airdrops from UNICEF for children and mothers in countries devastated by WWII. She spoke of spending summers in the Netherlands at a camp for children orphaned/affected by the war.
When Ann was 11 her family immigrated to the USA and settled in Philadelphia. She loved school and particularly enjoyed her Kensington High School experience where she became captain of the school's fencing team.
Ann enjoyed her employment with Archbishop Damiano School/St. John of God Community Services as an administrative secretary in Westville Grove, NJ from 1978--2012. She took a leave of absence from September 1997 until July 1999 to serve as an Administrative Manager at a new St. John of God endeavor—a Mental Health facility in Malawi, Africa. The experience opened her eyes to the need for quality healthcare in third world countries and bolstered a life-long love of nature. Ann returned to New Jersey and was employed by Archbishop Damiano school until her retirement. She also was employed after retirement by The Arc of Gloucester County as a Program Coordinator for the Lifelong Learning Evening Program.
Ann loved to travel and spent time in Germany, Ireland, Belgium and her favorite place, Iceland. During her retirement Ann spent many happy hours cheering her favorite soccer teams. She was glued to the TV during the World Cup Championship games.
Ann will be truly missed, but she was ready for her next adventure.
A life celebration will be held at a date to be determined.
